gunsmoke = .mac?

Considering the $99 price tag, and the fact that its call Mac; is this apple's .Mac software and services package? The codename 'gunsmoke' is interesting though. I have no clue what this is, .Mac was my best guess. Anyone else have a crack at this one?

Quite strange indeed. And it can only ship inside the US - is that a big deal? or standard for Amazon?

And a quick search at Apple brings up nothing.

Gunsmoke = .Mac

Gunsmoke is .Mac subscription software:

Found another link at buy.com which gave the Apple part number (M8778LL/A).

This part number is listed on the iMac technical specs page in the table at the bottom:

.Mac account M8778LL/A

...which is a link to the .Mac Retail CD.

(but why call it Gunsmoke???)

rebates

It looks as if u can buy the .Mac package at a lower cost through these venders. Amazon has it for $84.99 and Buy.com has it even lower for $77.07. I guess people complaining about how much this cost has driven down the price a bit at these retailers. I will buy the .mac service, i find that the services and software you recieve justifies the cost. It would be interesting to see the sales of .Mac now that the price has been lowered a bit.

but... im still confused.... GunSmoke???

:D Hey, I suppose Apple called it gunsmoke because it was Apples shot on Microsofts .NET strategy... some act of hostility! :eek: :rolleyes: :D
