Hi all,

I'm currently using the Apple Hardware Test CD as my Powerbook G4 12" is poorly.

During the extended test, the screen changes to show lots of different colours and patterns - is this normal or does it show that there's a problem? It's the first time I've used the CD so I don't really know what to expect!

Thanks.

I seem to remember it does that when it's testing the video card.So it's normal.

interchangeablility nix

just remember—the hardware test disks that came with your mac are not interchangeable. each is designed to work with only the class/age computer it shipped with. almost machine specific.

the disks that came with the later emac/imac won't work with an earlier emac/imac. same goes for g4, g5, cd, c2d. etc

a 2004 early March release Emac hardware disk will work on a 2004 early March release Imac but not with a late March released machine.
same machine just a week later in production makes a difference.
even the airport cards are not interchangeable.
