My hubby's company is getting him a new MacBook Pro 14" M1 for work. We are the apple savvy ones so I am creating the business Apple ID so that hubby (me actually) will be the administrator, and will be able to make all necessary changes so that he can use it without any issues. The computer will be owned by the company so it will not be connected to our personal Apple ID.
Would my best way forward be to create an iCloud company email, since the boss' email is used by him personally and hubby doesn't have access to that. Hubby has his own private email (which I don't think is connected to our Apple ID, although if it is I could delete it) which I could add to the email list in the id but he will probably retire before the computer wears out, so we definitely do not want to use it as the primary email for the company id.

Any and all suggestions welcome. The company owner is a Windows guy, so technically I am the authority (?) on all things Mac.

Thanks,
Mary

If he doesn’t have a work email address, then the best way forward would be to create the new Apple account using an iCloud email address.

If you do that you can use your company name and put in the web portal for your account making!

I will give you an up! When you make an initial private.cloud email you can sign in the web portal (if you already have company email address) and click the + sign to creat alias email you can use that to create a custom email account with your company name like: Joe.blow@Company.com

Does your company not have a domain that could be used for business email? I would never tie a business email account to a branded service like iCoud, Yahoo, gmail, etc. You can certainly use those services to access your email but you don't want to tie your email address into their domains.

Boss has actually decided he would like to keep using the computer and before we had completed the process, the MacBook arrived and he created the Apple ID :)
