I have received a prompt on my Catalina 10.17.5 asking me for me to log into "Apple ID" on start up. I don't know why occurs.

Can anyone tell me what this prompt is asking ? I never enetered any infomration.

I posted the below on Apple forum and they stated "it contained personal information" and they removed the post.

If you posted that exact window to an Apple Forum, they are correct: It contains personal information.
Is that really your AppleID?

The prompt is asking for your AppleID password.
The box looks a bit suspicious to me, particularly if it won't let you past that box at login.

If you CAN get logged in to the desktop, go to your System Preference, then to the AppleID settings, where you can enter your password legitimately, and check if any other updates are needed to your account. That should then clear your AppleID account, and you shouldn't normally see a random AppleID window like that.
If that doesn't help, you should log in to the AppleID help page.

What is the function of the log in? I never saw it before.

How can I identify the start up screen process ? I would like to know what initiates the window.

Can you bypass that window (ignore it?)
If you get to your usual desktop, go to System Preferences, then AppleID. Sign in to your AppleID account THERE, and check if there are any notices about updating your AppleID account, usually appearing as a red badge. That short process SHOULD be able to clear any notices there through the AppleID settings.
If you STILL get that "password needs to be updated" window at login, what's your Next Step? Check for malware. Malwarebytes is pretty useful as an aid to either find malware, and give you the opportunity to remove it -- or the scan finds nothing the might be considered malware. Also, Malwarebytes is free for you to use.

The log in message no longer appears on start up and I do not intend to log into the menu. I still get updates and I can log into the app store. There is no other apple service I use.

Was there any "hits" after running a malware scan? Malwarebytes is a good tool, and nice to get some kind of reassurance that you have not encountered a bit of malware/shoppingware, particularly if you have never done that kind of scan in the past.

My malware scan did not identify anything.
