I seem to have caused myself many problems.

My apple id for iTunes is an old hotmail address I've had for years which I use for things that might spam me. I can't seem to change that now, which is irritating.

I also have an @mac address and therefore the same @me address.

I want my @mac address to be my iCloud address but I think that's impossible. So I'm trying to have my @me address become my iCloud one. I can't see how - I seem to have somehow created a new email address instead, with an unwanted erroneous full stop in the middle.

I just want them to be all the same email address. Why can't I do that?

The short answer to all of this is you can't do what you are looking to do unless you use a non-Apple e-mail address.

I will suggest you look at this another way. Think of iTunes ID as something that controls your purchases. You may want to share those purchases with your spouse and maybe you kids so you use that ID for your "iTunes Store Account ID". I would not think of that as an email address in this context. Now for your iCloud ID. I would assume you would not want to share that ID with your Spouse. I mean would you want both your email's to come to that same email address? I believe most will want the iCloud ID to be a "personal" ID and you may want (now or in the future) your iTunes ID to be shared.

For me, my wife and I have unique iCloud ID's and a shared iTunes ID.

Well. That is particularly boring, stupid, and irritating.

The best you can hope for is for Apple to one day create a way to transfer purchase histories from one AppleID to another. Consolidating accounts is a whole different issue. It would be like saying you wanted to take two different Hotmail accounts and merge them....just doesn't happen.
