I just got a new iPhone SE, with most recent iOS upgrade.

This is my first iphone (!) and was wondering if someone can help with a 2 minor issues (probably nothing more than an annoyance).

1.
Every time I go to Setting > "My Name" , there is a pop up saying "Apple ID required, Please sign in with your Apple ID in Settings". Then it gives me options for Not Now and Settings. When I touch settings, it just takes me back to the phone home screen.

This happens even though I'm signed into apple ID and icloud. It happens despite turning the phone off and back on.

Any suggestions for why this is happening and how to get rid of it?

2.
What is the most streamline way of transferring contacts from google to iphone?

I've synced my google contacts to my phone, so that i have all my contact numbers. However, I dont think the contacts have traveled to icloud. For example, when im on my macbook and I go to contacts, there are none. When I use iMessage on my mac, the texts show but contacts dont. I have the option to sync contacts for icloud 'on'.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Right now I have no suggestions for your first problem, but for your second - well, you are a little confused on how contacts work.

When you added Google contacts your phone synced up with that service. So you aren't using iCloud contacts at all. You're using Google contacts.

You can choose to ALSO add iCloud contacts but you'll be manually chasing things around to make sure it's updated between services. You CAN put your contacts in the iCloud group if you wish but there's no automatic button that's going to update your iCloud contacts when you update a Google contact and vice versa.

It's best to stick with one service. Since you have Google already, I would suggest hooking up the Contacts app on your MacBook to Google. Or…you can transfer all your Google contacts to iCloud and simply stick with iCloud.

It all depends on just how much work you want to do and if it's worth it to you or not to keep syncing manually between the two services.

Incidentally, if you have added any contacts to your iPhone and you have not told your phone that it's Google you want to use then the default is iCloud. So, any contacts added to iCloud since you've done this won't be in Google.

Two different services.
