I have posted this on the Apple support page but but no one is at home, think they are away on holiday!!

On my iMac i am being asked to update my apple ID Settings, i click continue and i am asked for my iCloud password, this i put in. I am then asked for my Mac password this i to put in, all ok so far.

the screen says, ”Enter the password you use to unlock your MacBook. This password protects your apple ID, saved passwords and other data stored in iCloud. Your password is encrypted and cannot be read by Apple”

I have always used the same password on both iMac and MacBook but it will not accept it? Why

I get a message stating “Enter Password for other MacBook which is not the same password for this iMac.

On my mac book there are no notifications on the icloud icon??

Contact Apple Support. Chat or a phone call will be an easier method of solving your problems rather than waiting for forum responses.

Yes.

Usually, the problem is your internet connection or ISP, however.

I recently ran into this when my Airport Tower needed a firmware update. My wired machines weren't asking for this but my wireless devices were.
