if your selling an iphone how do you set it up so there's no apple id on it and the buyer can set his/her own up without any problems?
Sign out of Find My iPhone (you can also sign out of iCloud altogether), and then use the Erase All Content and Settings option at Settings > General > Reset.

And then once it's erased it gets rid of your apple id, as long as it's not reset does it?

It disassociates your Apple ID with that particular phone. It doesn’t get rid of your Apple ID all together. Erasing all contents and settings gets the phone ready for the new person essentially. It’ll be like they went to an Apple Store and bought a brand new one. Once the phone erases, resets, and boots back up, it’ll look like the phone has been turned on for the first time.

OK thanks. U thought you got rid of it that way but wasn't sure so u thought I'd better check to be certain.

Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
If you do NOT disable Find My iPhone before doing this you end up with a device that is iCloud Activation locked upon restoring!

Not a big deal for someone who owns the phone and has their credentials, but a very big thing for a buyer.
