I just got an email that looks like this:

Screen Shot 2018-10-05 at 9.06.12 AM.png

The link goes to http://apple-identityservice.com/identify_...

Is this Phishing or does Apple really own apple-identityservice.com. I checked whois and its not clear. It just says lots of VeriSign.

"Failed to validate your account information we hold on file for you"? Why would they be validating something to begin with? "We are not completely satisfied with your account information"? Who even says something like that?

The domain itself is certainly not an Apple one, but even just the content of the email is essentially ridiculous as far as what it seems to claim that any company does and the wording it uses.

If you run a whois against this domain, you get that it isn't owned by Apple:

compare with apple.com:

So, Apple doesn't own this domain. It's good measure to whois a domain (you can use whois.net) whenever it looks suspicious.

I looked first using forward to see where it came from. It is fake and Apple will not send you emails like the one you received. I also received emails saying that my apple id is comprised and needs to be validated. Its another trick by scammers to steal your info. I have forwarded these emails to Apple.

This is a simple phishing attempt.
First the email doesn't mention you by name. Secondly as you noticed its not an apple.com domain, but one that is made to look like one
