So today I created my iCloud e-mail account (@me.com) and went to make that address my primary Apple ID. It wouldn't let me, stating that you can't use a MobileMe e-mail address as an Apple ID. Except that this isn't a MobileMe e-mail address; it was created through iCloud. Any ideas?

I posted exactly the same question a few days ago and I didn't get a response. I also want my new @me account to also serve as my main and ONLY Apple ID login. Also, I am planning on ditching my Hotmail account and all my Apple emails (purchases etc) go to my Hotmail as this is my main ID.

Please, I want to use my new @me as my ID and as my main email account.:confused:

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. My iTunes account is unfortunately tied to an old Hotmail account I no longer use, and it would be nice to be able to use my iCloud address as my primary Apple ID. What gives??

I already knew that it was impossible to convert a MobileMe address into an Apple ID, but I'm surprised that an iCloud address, created through your primary Apple ID, cannot be used as your main login. So weird, Apple. Fix this please.

Maybe we've gone the wrong way about it? Are you on iOS 5? Do you fancy testing iMessage with me? PM your @me if you like.
