I really believe that apple will join the gaming world like microsoft did with the xbox 360. what do you all think? reason being since bungi (or what ever it is) went over to apple

When did Bungie go over to Apple?

Bungie used to be a Mac games producer before Microsoft swallowed them. (and just recently they decided to take seperate paths again)

And no: Apple will most likely not re-enter the gaming market.

you mean again, right? pippin ftw

Can't see it myself. Massive market to tap into though, so that may be tempting. Their lack of 'real' support for gaming is well known so why they should suddenly change direction and plough billions into creating a console doesnt ring true with me.
Stranger things have happened though.

What? No. The markets too bloody saturated as it is. Apple won't have a leg to stand on with their lack of experience in the games market.
Bungie went back to Apple? You mean one studio that pushes out one game every 3 years is going to be strong enough to keep a brand new games console going?

And to be more picky why would it be called the iGame? The iPhone is the only product that have with a name directing indicating what it does. iGame just sounds super naff.

I think over the next year we will see a slow and steady improvment in the number of games for the Mac platform.

As for launching a console, Apple has two businesses which do very well: Mac and iPod. They also have two businesses which they are working to establish: iPhone and TV.

They don't need any other distractions, not for the moment. I wouldn't rule out something in the future (5-10 years, who knows?) but don't expect anything soon.

It is definitely one market they could explore for future growth, along with the enterprise market. Apple (or someone else) needs to kill two properitory Microsoft technologies: Exchange and DirectX. Once these have gone, the window of opportunity will be open.

Given that both Sony and MS are struggling to make a profit in the console market, I think it's highly unlikely (frankly, Apple would be insane to try it at the moment).

yeah, i agree

and bungie didn't "go back to apple"... they're simply an independent company again.
And although I don't have a link to the news item right here, i DID read a press release by bungie stating that they would continue to release high quality games for the xbox 360.

I'm just hoping they go multiplatform for future releases. When they were owned by microsoft, it was in microsofts best interest to release games ONLY for xbox. Now that bungie's independent though, it would be in THEIR best interest to release on multiple platforms, even if it's just windows and xbox simultaneously, cause that means we get to play without buying an xbox.
