Here's the situation, I can get a 21.5" iMac from my local PX on the military base which will be $12 cheaper than if I got it from the Apple Store and there will be no tax. If I was to choose this option I would save $83.94. On the other hand I never bought any Apple product directly from the Apple retail store, so do you think it would be more pleasurable to go with the Apple store experience and pay the extra $83.94?

Addition information: I am a huge Apple fanboy, I got my first iPhone from AT&T, my iPhone 4 from the Apple online store, my iPad from Wal-Mart, and my soon to be iPhone 5 will be from Best Buy as I'm part of their Reward Zone membership program

The Apple stores are great for people who don't really know what they want, and they can get hands-on experience there plus decent guidance from the staff.

Having said that, if you already know what you want, then the Apple store can be a hassle as they can be crowded and flagging down someone to get them to sell you what you want can be a pain.

I'd save the money and buy at the PX.

You'd be doing a tiny bit more to support Apple as a company to buy it from the retail store, maybe, but honestly, it's not like you're hurting them to get it at the base.

Not to pry, but you mention in your signature that you're 14. That makes me wonder: is this your money you're spending? If it isn't, I think you owe it to your parents to be more responsible with their funds. If it is, why not save the money for other things you could spend it on, like new apps at the App Store?

Hmmm....

I would probably save the money so I could get some AppleCare, or some more things for it, like an iTunes gift card so you can get on the Mac App Store and buy some things...

On the other hand, I would love to go and walk out of the Apple Store with victory with that iMac and it's box.. taking pictures dramatically while walking out, LMAO.!:)

On the OTHERRR handd, Lol , You can also do it at BestBuy, like you said, you have a rewards card, and that's such a big purchase that you could get some stuff toward your new iPhone... Lol

I would get it from the PX, there's no difference at all. Go to the  Store and play with them and get the experience that way and then go into your PX and get one there.
Support your PX by the way, the money you spend there goes back to MWR and towards the betterment of the AAFES community.

I get this a lot. All my Apple products I have I got with my own money except I got the second Gen iPod touch for Christmas, and the second Gen iPod nano for my 10th or 11th birthday. I use my birthday money, mow grass in the summer, save my Christmas money, and do extra chores here and there for money so I can save up for the products. My parents do, on the other hand, pay for the monthly cell phone bill, allow me to use their upgrades for the iPhones so I get them for $199, and my parents have agreed that if I buy the iMac they will help pay for the Microsoft office student edition and the magic trackpad.

My best buy currently doesn't sale apple products other than the iPhone, iPad, and iPods.

Yeah, after reading all these suggestions the more right choice seems to be buy it at the PX. I can use that money I saved to help pay for Apple care, and it would be good to help the mwr. Thanks for pointing this out. I will definitely get it from the PX. Maybe I can talk my dad, or older sister to take me to the apple store at 6am in the morning on about June 22-25. I doubt it. Oh well

Thanks for everyones suggestions!

Not sure how your Apple store is, but every time I visit mine, there is a line out the door. If you were going to order it online I would say Apple store, but your not, so save some money and go to the PX.

You are very capable at properly written communication compared to the average teenager. Good job, and thank you for not being like the majority of young people.

Agreed. You seem to be well spoken and responsible for your age.

Personally, I would save the money. When I buy a computer there is seemingly always something that I realize I want/need to accompany it in the days after. Save the money incase you find the need for a particular program, adapter, or whatever else might pop up. That's just my opinion.

Thank you very much. I think that when you work for what you want it seems more valuable to me. I want to be a cardiologist for when I grow up and was going to give my kids everything they wanted, but then realized that they would act like spoiled kids. I don't like spoiled kids so I'll only help them get what they want.

Thank you too. I do plan on saving as much money for things I do want, but I have a pretty good list of things I want. On my list is the magic track pad, Microsoft office student edition, and a desk.
