I live in Central Queensland Australia and I am planing to purchase a iMac 20" (2.16 GHZ, 2 GB Ram, 256 MB VRAM) sometime in the next few weeks. I am wondering if I purchased it off the Apple Online Store how long would it take before I would receive it?

Also should I wait until MacWorld 2007 before purchasing the iMac?

Good question... Maybe a week or so... It really depends on the carrier they use to get it to you. You may as well wait, unless you need it straight away. :)

I'm waiting - I suspect iLife 07 will be packaged with the iMac if you wait! According to a lot of people, the iMac is not due for any updates - it has a fast processor, good HD options, etc. We might see some Mini upgrades, but the iMac is unlikely to get a facelift (at this poitn in time, anyway).

As for the shipping, I'm from Canada so I can't help you out there! Good luck!

My sister just ordered a 20" iMac CD@, with the base config in Australia. Since today is a public holiday it will be shipped probably by tomorrow and delivered to our house on either Thursday or Friday. I guess it also depends on where you live. My iMac G5 came from NSW so it took around 3 days to get to my house (Brissy).

Definetly wait for MacWorld. As other poster said, you'll likely get iLife07 with your machine if you do.

Another reason for waiting is that Apple is far from predictable. Someone is already rumoring that it will get a overhaul. Apple updated ipods last year that were selling well because it wanted to, not because it needed to. I wonder with Leopard on the horizon and its TimeMachine feature, whether Apple will slip a second HDD into their iMacs, and make this a really key feature. They might also bring out a piano black finish as part of their shift to multimedia, so the iMac looks more like most LCD TVs do. They might also upgrade speakers and other things to make them more multimedia focused.

Piano black would definitely be interesting, though I'd still probably go with the white. I like that "classic" Apple look!
