Ok, this is bugging me since the beginning...

Does anybody know if Apple Intelligence will be available for Swiss users?

Why do I ask? Because Switzerland isn't part of the European Union and we didn't get to have 3rd party app stores like the rest of the EU, so i assume Apple doesn't consider Switzerland as part of the EU and then provide the same features as the rest of the world. Would that be correct? I can't figure out what are Apple's plans for the Apple Intelligence deployment.

Sorry if that have already been discussed but I didn't found anything, specially on Google...

Thank you

I was in Switzerland a week ago - everyone I spoke to, spoke far better English than my German (which, to be honest, isn't a high bar).

I live in Switzerland and with iOS 18.1 Beta 5 Apple Intelligence & Siri is available with language set to English (US).
My iPhone preferred language in General - Language & Region is English, followed by French, German and Italian with region set to Switzerland.

Well, all the languages available in December are... international versions of English. 🧐

Wait and see...

You will have to wait for language support of German (or French) coming in 2025 unless you set your phone to English but that does not really help you with most of the AI features which are based on improving texts etc. it will not be able to make suggestions to your writing if it does not support your language.

I tried it with Apple Intelligence on Mac but quickly realized it is pointless not speaking my main language. There is really nothing it can do besides removing objects from photos haha

I can also confirm that it works perfectly fine by setting the language to US English (which is what I always use on my phones anyway, so no change for me).

what defines whether you are in CH or not? Ich commute between CH and DE, how does it know? Simply change the region? or is it GPS based?
It's actually not 100% clear. One component seems to be the country of your App Store Apple account.

I was in Switzerland last weekend (I live in France, French Apple ID, iPhone & Siri set to US English).
I was driving so I couldn't check right away, I arrived at my destination 15 min after crossing the border, Apple Intelligence was already enabled on my 15PM and downloaded the models as soon as I connected to wifi.
And as soon crossed back the border to France it was disabled unfortunately.

I think it's GPS based for those like me who have an EU Apple ID.
