Ok I have had the 12.9 pro 3rd gen time to upgrade?

I already have a Macbook Pro and MabBook Air with M1 now they have shown the new Liquid Retina XDR display, I am extremely tempted with upgrading to the new one as this screen sounds amazing!

I am a sucker for an beautiful display will it be that much of an upgrade? Does anyone know a good site I can find some examples of stunning images and videos that can show off the displays i have now?

Also anyone excited that we can use this as a second display with Macbooks so we have a mini XDR display,

It wont give you much today except the new display. What that gives in reality we dont know yet. Wait for reviews, might be out today or tomorrow.

Hello, I have a 3rd gen iPad Pro 12.9, 256 gb that I bought used around in December, for a very good price to replace my much loved 1st gen 12.9 iPad Pro that I had bought new.

I was waiting impatiently for this release, hence the reason why I bought used as I was expecting/hoping to replace it with the new beautiful display.

Hardware wise, I find the iPad Pro oustanding, especially with 16 gb ram and 1 tb option. But first of all, I would love to see the capabilities of the device. I mean, on the 3rd gen, 1tb had 6gb of ram but the extra 2 gb was not used by the apps but was instead used to manage the extra storage. So first of all I would love to know if the "pro apps" will be able to take advantage of the extra ram.

Even tho, hardware wise, the new iPad Pro has everthing to satisfy my needs ( actually, much more than that ) , but as many suggests, my 3rd gen (or 4th gen) iPad Pro does everything very well already. I would upgrade if i was doing video editing on iPad for a living and that with the new M1 processors, the export times may improve a lot, also the transfer speeds to external hard drives may see a big improvement, but other than, for now, I do not know if there will be such a big jump compared to my already fast 3rd gen on the apps I use. I use mostly drawing apps such as Procreate, ClipStudio Pro, Sketchbook..etc + Affinity Suite.

I am sure that you will have big gains on Affinity Photo as well, as computing speeds, but still, I do not use it that much for me to become a big bonus, and the speed of my 3rd gen is still very satisfying for me.

So what I mean is that if you "need" to upgrade right away, depends on the apps that you use the most on your iPad. Most probably the 3d apps like Shapr3d or Forge could benefit from the bigger computing speeds.

For drawing, I am still just fine and I could not justify the price of 1tb 16 gb with the XDR display to change. Yes I could buy the base model, but for me the catch is here, what if iPadOS 15 make some changes or the if new apps that come to iPad may take adventage of the 16 gb?

So, What I want to do is to wait for the iPadOS 15, to see if the new hardware will provide a big advantage with the new iPadOS and if new pro apps will come to iPad to benefit from these improvements. If not, I will hold on to my iPad and may wait for the OLED iPad that was rumoured for next year. But also it is a rumour, so noone knows for sure if it will happen next year or even if it will ever happen.

But for now, I do not want to make a free dive blindly not knowing what iPadOS 15 will bring us.

Also, I would like to wait a bit to see if the XDR displays are reliable or have issues.

That's how I think. I hope it helps :)

Since the preorder starts tomorrow I guess the reviews will be out today or tomorrow, but who knows.
