Easy for me. :D
I'm usually in the office at 0630 EST (0330 PST).

iPad pre-order: Bring It!

I probably will too, but I'm a little paranoid, the start time might happen before that, and we'll be SOL.

Even if you wait several days to pre-order, you'll still get your iPad on April 3rd.

With the iPhone 3GS, which had far more immediate sales potential, you were able to pre-order it over several weeks and still get it on launch day.

I have a quick dentist appointment at 7:00 cst. Might have to drag my laptop along and make a stop at Panera on the way to work to make a quick order! :D

Fun stuff!

Steve

For 3GS, it was far more immediate sales potential with huge supply of it available. Don't expect the same for iPad which is brand new and hasn't been ramping production until this month if the supply checks from analysts are true. Don't forget about the six different models compared to just two for 3gs. Apple has no idea how many people want for whichever model. Apple can have a serious supply issues within the hour if everybody just wants the 499$ model, which in my opinion is why the pre-order is being set up weeks before, so they can produce more but can they really rump the production high enough?

If they run into supply issues, it won't be within the first hour. They are going to sell a ton of these things, but they won't sell out their initial supply on the first day of pre-orders.

damn! i have my daughter doctors appointment @8:30ET. ill ask my wife during on the road she will be the one who do the pre-order while im driving.

I won't be staying up but I will be waking up at 8AM EST to get ready to place my order.

I'll be gobsmacked if they don't sell out the initial supply of preorders/April 3rd shipping dates tomorrow for the USA, if I was a betting man I'd put good money on it.
Don't believe the anti-Apple hype, just because haters bark loudest it doesn't mean that it won't be a popular item.

If you think they won't have stock to sell in their stores on April 3rd, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

And I can't wait to see all the complaints of those who pre-ordered and all they'll do on April 3rd is watch TV reports of happy people lined up at Apple Store getting theirs.

I don't get all the hubup about getting to the pre-order early. Apple doesn't reserve or ship on a first come, first serve basis.

The iPhone 3gs launch did not have not a lot of people lining up to get their iPhone because majority of the units were pre-ordered, different for the previous iPhone launches where people couldn't pre-order since the iPhone has to be activated in stores.

Now that iPad can be reserved for in-store pick ups, there'll be limited amount of units that can be sold for people who didn't pre-order in advance. Major Apple retail stores will have plenty of stock, but minor stores won't and not everybody have access to the retail stores. Question is, how many is Apple allocating to partner stores, to retail stores and for online shipment?

I bet the apple online store will be hammered and super slow,
i'll set an alarm and order thru my iphone straight from bed then go back to sleep :p

Well of course they can!
That is the whole purpose of the pre orders in the first place~!

How can you be SOL if there is still 3 weeks before you get the damn thing?
GET REAL!

umm...Get real? Does anyone know for sure if the pre-orders will be unlimited until launch? If so, please point me to some evidence, cuz I'd be happy about that.

Honestly I don't know how the iPad will fair, but I've had my experience with an online preorder "selling out" within hours, if not minutes. If I remember correctly it was for the recent Popcorn Hour device (yeah, not as high profile as iPad, but just an example).

I'd give the link on the Popcorn Hour example, but it's a forum link which requires you to register. I did a google though, and here's the results tidbit:

"Pre-order list! limited to 20slots only! Upcoming New Popcorn Hour C-200 with blu-ray ... 1st batch sold out! what are you waiting for! pre-order now!"

Yeah, it was only 20 slots, but my point is pre orders can be stopped, and who knows what Apple's magic number is, if anything.

im not ordering tomorrow but ill be up and checking to forums to see how everyone fairs lol. itll make for an interesting morning to say the least
