I think there were rumors of one opening on Grafton Street in Dublin, or maybe O Connell, but not sure on either of these, especially given the current economic turmoil that my beloved home country is in. I worked for Apple down in Cork, so I'll probe around with a few contacts and see if they know anything.

A lot of rumours swirling about.. The Evening Echo reported Apple was in 'advanced negotiations' to secure one of the corner units in the Opera Lane development in Cork, right on Patrick St.; as well as locations on Grafton St. and elsewhere in Dublin.

While it doesn't seem like good timing, Apple could sign a long-term lease on a premium store units for a bargain price these days, it's the perfect time to start up if you want to keep costs low.

(Since that story, I've read it may be an Apple APR rather than an official Apple store, so who knows..)

PC World do have Apple stores-within-a-store; which are styled as Apple Stores, but are quite small and a bit lacking.

And that does leave you having to deal with DSGi. In my experience that's best to be avoided.

I don't know if a NI Apple Store would give an educational discount to a RoI student, but I doubt it.

Can you not buy online? Or do other stores which stock Apple gear not offer the educational discount?
