I probably would... especially if it looked like that.

I'd wait for the second generation. I'm sure it'll have much-improved rolling capabilities.

the deal breaker for me would be the fact that it doesn't have a front facing 12mp camera

It would probably be less than any other rock out there but people would defend it to the death because it is from Apple.

If Apple sold a rock it would not look like a rock/pebble at all.

Probably just a very, very thin slice of polished black onyx.

The ver 1.0 will be sold with a polishing cloth.
Ver 2.0, not.

Oh, and there will be queues.

Edit: I forgot to answer the original question. Would I buy one? (or even several?)
Not if it was just a paperweight.

My first generation iRock gathers moss when rolled. I've booked a genius appointment to get it looked at, do you reckon that I'm entitled to a replacement or is this considered 'acceptable' by Apple?

Sounds like water damage to me, that'll void your applecare, sorry dude

Do you have the latest firmware installed? I've heard that 1.0.7 has a moss-related bug, but 1.0.8 should make that a thing of the past. Try it out, might work.

Mine, unfortunately is coming apart at the beginning of the USB cord.

See, it should look like that, but the wiring on mine is exposed and frayed right out of the box. Not impressed Apple.
