Spoke with Customer relations today and they are going to exchange my old Macbook for a new Aluminum one for all the troubles I have had over the past year.

Anyone have them do this? I spoke with them at 4PM EST and still haven't received email with return labels and such.

Any advice from anyone that has had this done to make the process easier?

Apple replaced one of my two-year-old eMacs with a brand new Intel-based iMac. The eMac had been in the shop at my local Apple certified dealer for several months. When I explained the situation to my representative in Austin, he made it up to me by replacing my defective computer. No hissy fits were required.

Not personally, but a friend had a similar situation. No advice really. It might take a few days but you will get your old one shipped and the new one to you. I assume they offered to migrate your data?

no they didn't offer to migrate my data. I have to send the old one and when it is on its way they will send the new one.

Not a worry though, have time machine backup.

little things like that make me feel good about spending a small premium on apple or apple care.

indeed. The guy that helped me out was so nice and helpful. He apologized excessively.

Done this twice last year; I find the experience quite unpleasant since I loved my computer and it shouldn't have broken in the first place.

Otherwise, the exchange did go smoothly.
