Yesterday I went for a walk at the Shopping Mall close to my work place, I'm looking to buy a Razer gaming mouse so I entered a local PC Store called Vobis (I don't know if this a multi-national corporation or a Portuguese one), anyway, I was there in the middle of all those Dell's and Hp's and suddently I see these beautiful white things at the end, I stared closer and WHOW! they're selling Apple now too  (believe me, this for me was like finding a Mac at a Dell store)
In Portugal there are really few places where you can buy Mac's but it's been growing enourmosly in the past year or so. Better than that, a couple of the age 30/35 (had the typical PC User look, if that exists) were scanning for a computer for like half an hour and suddently they stop by the Mac's, the Wife says something to the Husband and he's like "okay, we'll come and take it next week". I found this very strange and in the past few months the growth of Apple in this country has been very big, I have 5 of my friends, all bought Mac's in the last year, it somehow seems like Apple is becoming bigger and bigger.

Wonder why that is? Is everyone starting to "Think Different"?

Like it or not, its the iPod Culture. People are basically going 'Oh, Apple make computers as well?'

But yeah, any company not growing is a company not making money, so of course they are growing.

Yep, of course they're growing, but I'm telling you, in the past year (at least here) I've been seeing more and more people buying Mac's, it has been really abnormal the rate of Mac sales here, one of my friends went to make a reservation on a 20" iMac and they said that the iMac's that were arriving weren't enough to fullfil all reservations, and believe me, in a country which is going through an economical crisis, this is very strange :)

Is it all because of the iPod? or it's because Mac's do Windows too now? Guess we'll never know what is leading all these people to switch :)

The UK may already be established as a reasonably good Mac market, but over the last 12 months or so I've also seen massive takeup amongst my friends. From knowing zero Mac users I now know 9 people with at least one Mac, plus I myself have purchased no less than 7 Macs for myself and my business. All the Mac's I know of bar 2 are Intel, of course. Oddly enough I only bought my iPod Nano after experiencing Mac computers, partly because the new Nano is just so delicious I could no longer resist :D

In my social network, at least, there has been a dramatic and substantial switch to Macs.

So I guess this wasn't just here, nor was it a "feeling" I had, unbelievable, I also have many friends who turned over to Mac in the current year, especially since the Intel Mac's came out, however, two of them went to buy the last Power Pc's (iBook's) that were at the store because they thought that the Intel ones would be crap, LOL!

Dell dosent have a store, havent you seen the advert

In te uk most pc shops sell macs

My local PCWorlds Mac section is always deserted and dusty. If you ask a PCWorld employee about Macs they look at you blankly and ask what the hell you are talking. One reason why I dont go to PC world, the other reason i think most people know ;)

Ive managed to convert most of my close friends this year pretty easily. For most people its simply a case of being exposed to OSX as Windows is all they know.

This is in the UK too

There's a dell store in my local mall. what are you talking about? ???
There is one place that sells Macs within 30 minutes of my house and 4 places that sell Macs within an hour and a half of my house. CompUSA is the local one, within 30 minutes. And at my school there are 4 people bringing laptops, 2 of them are iBooks, and my MacBook Pro. Unfortunetly my school uses 700mhz pcs, with 256MB of RAM :(.

The growth in Mac is simple. They starting using Intel Chip. A lot of people like Mac OS X OS. But felt leftout fear if they bought a Mac they won't able to use a lot of games and software made for the PC.

I am at NYU and PC users are certainly in the minority. I am in a room with six people, and 5 of us are Mac users (however, except for me, everyone is a first-time Mac users, so it is increasing).

I am sitting here in the study room of the dorm. Of the 7 or so people on laptops here, only one person is on a PC.

I am a recent switcher. Have had my Macbook Pro for about 2 weeks now. For me the attitude has switched drastically about macs. I have been impressed with OSX for about two years now, but as soon as mac announced that they would make a transition to Intel, I knew that I had to switch. The ability to run OSX and Windows is a whole new ballgame.

I think the switch to Intel and supporting windows is the best thing that Apple ever could have done. Now I only wish I had invested some money in Apple 2 years ago.
