I want to get my wife a new receiver and a new appletv so she can stream music from Pandora. Ok the thing is she is blind and 99% of the receiver's use is audio only. been looking in the 400 to 500 range and I could get some good stuff from nad and such But nothing has a da in. She wants to be able to stream Pandora from her iphone because she can see whats playing. she can't do that with the player running from safari on her mac.

I would rather get better sound for a integrated amp or simple receiver then buy a av receiver and have a lot of wasted stuff I never use. Plus a lot of extra buttons or hard to navigate remotes and faces. Any idea's?

got one and a regular appletv. but nether will let her stream from her phone to it. she can't access Pandora from her mac she can only get it to play. so if she can stream pandora from her phone she has full access to it and can skip tracks and such.
that's why we need a new appletv

You might need a newer Airport Express, but I don't think so. I streamed Pandora audio from my iPhone to a friend's Airport Express over the weekend. I don't remember where the output selection was for Pandora; you might have to double click the home button then swipe left to the iPod audio controls to change the speaker selection.

Some Apps put the speaker selection right in the app - others sort of hide it as above.

AirPlay Audio seems to be working for quite a few apps - AirPlay video not so much at this time. Sounds like this isn't an issue for you.

your right airplay does work through an airport express. so maybe just buy another one for her to use.

Is her phone an iPhone?

She can stream itunes using the airport express and control it with the apple remote app.

the only problem is voiceover goes through the airplay speaker. that really sucks. I hope there is a setting to fix it I will check when she gets home. Plus she put pandora on pause and her phone got all glitchy and became a problem.
