less than a year ago I got an iPhone X as I'm legally blind and use it for HomeKit and transport apps it's a great device that helps me everyday, the problem started a few weeks ago the device got super hot so I stopped using it I go back and look at it a while later the lcd is messed up and the screen is bulging out on one side some real issues ya know, the issue though got worse when I found out my iCloud was still linked to an account I forgot so I contact live chat they said no problem give us all the documents and proof of purchase and we'll unlock it I give the info and get a callback. apple says okay no problem contact tomorrow all the info will be forwarded.

I contact tomorrow and the guy says we can do nothing your device is in lost mode, bear in mind I'm visually impaired so I might have clicked lost mode instead of ping at some point I plead and tell they how much I need the device the guy says no and hangs up.

now I'm mad and contact tara bunch VP of AppleCare I get a response from a guy called kashif Jamil
(some exec) he gives no useful info and treats me like an enemy, I might as well contact the CCPC as they're in breach of the goods and supply of services act 1980 (yes I do business in school) think about it your out of 1k due to an account though you have all the documentation and just want your phone fixed.

I have no idea what to do if you have any info reply or email
me I don't mind.

Go to apple store with your bill?
Hi even if if I brought my info they said they'll do nothing due to lost mode though I have my documents etc:(

Sorry this is happening to you. But like others have said bring in the documentation you have to the Apple store. May be an inconvenience but at least you can get your problem resolved.
thanks for the support though read my other reply :(
[doublepost=1543081478][/doublepost]they only have aasps and look at this oof

Use Find My iPhone app to login to your account, locate the device in question, disable lost mode or just remove the device altogether. This should remove it from your account.

Hm, from the position of anyone else than you this looks quite suspicious : You have iPhone in lost mode and do not remember account you created to activate it. This is basically text example of stolen iPhone situation - and Apple system was designed to make it impossible to use the phone. They work hard to do so to prevent thieves and legal or illegal agencies from making/requiring them to unlock/open it. One of the reasons many people buy Apple products : some chance of security of their stuff on the phone...
Another words, there is not much Apple will do for this case and should even try to do.
Your best chance is either to reset the iCloud account and fix the lost phone mode on the phone - if you indeed are owner of such account at all. If that cannot be done, it may be easier to just buy new phone. And make notes on which iCloud account is used to set it up and store them in safe place.

I think you are being a bit harsh assuming that he is lying, but I agree with you that Apple is doing the right thing.

Does not matter is it cost $5000, Apple has rules that protect all of us. Their system for security works very well.
It always amazes me how many people 'forget' important things like credentials. Credentials are the things that allow you to identify/prove who you are so you can get access to the important things you need/want to use. Yet they get 'forgotten' a lot.

Go figure.

Understandable suspicion though I provided valid proof of purchase etc so now I’m gonna submit a report to the ccpc

[doublepost=1543098560][/doublepost]I understand the suspicion though I gave both a PayPal transaction id and invoice for the device heck i even sent my Memoji lmao

I get apple’s security model though when you deny actual users who can supply the valid information they required and still deny them I find it ridiculous

What is the procedure in these situations? Does Apple have a list of proof/documentation that they require before they unlock for you? And if they do have a list, do you have all of that information that they require?

If so, I wonder why they are not helping you out.

If you have an Apple Store nearby, it's probably easier/more effective to visit them in person with all of the required info/proof. Most people (Apple employees included) have a harder time staying firm when face-to-face. It's easy to be tough on the phone or via chat.

I hope you do get your phone unlocked. Good luck.

Great advice. Just to add if they are very firm in one store, then try another and another until you get somebody willing to help. Btw, make sure you book a “Genius” appointment and not just show up.

Thing is in Ireland we only have AASP’s and no apple stores :(

And their system is also verging on paranoia and narcisism and self righteous indignation as how such a perfect system in its Orwellian modus cuts off the hand that feeds it and without the frustration and anger of a few coming through we’d thank Apple for their Utopia.
Listen, I don’t give a crap bout where my phone comes from or who made it. Who engineered it or code that’s so sparkly it jumps. Don’t care it’s obscene cost overseas compared to its actual value is gut wrenching and that’s it more bout bling than function like Prada handbags... I’m the consumer. I rock. I want my phone to turn on and be a working two way radio. I want to make calls and get calls. That’s it. If I need to figure out why my iCloud parent account is messsing me and Apple won’t do a thing to fix it. I’m outta here. You look after your customers. You don’t have Barbie doll preppies in their elocuted, scripted crisp remarks inform a 56 yr old comma engineer who was migrating from UNIVAC to IBM on cards with punch holes

LOL!

You need to take a deep breath and try to remain calm.

Getting all wound up will not change anything.
