Sooo a few days ago I tried to turn on my MB Pro and I get the dreaded question mark folder. When I realized I'd have to go to my nearest Apple store, I got nervous since I put an Intel SSD in myself.
When I get to the Apple Store, the kid services me then goes to the back. He comes back about 25 mins later and tells me he can't repair my Macbook since the hard drive was 3rd party. At this point I'm starting to feel like I won't have a computer for a while (Mac's being so damn expensive).
The very next day I call Applecare Protection. The guy, who was really nice, went through about 7 scenarios to help me troubleshoot, with no luck. He then tells me I'd have to send it to the Apple warehouse for fixin. The very next morning the FedEx guy gives me a box from Apple to put my Macbook in. So I packed it up then shipped it that same day.
Apple gets my package w/ overnight shipping, fixes several issues, then sends my Mac back so that I'll get it tomorrow morning! Turns out it was the "connector ribbon" to the hard drive that was the problem and not the hard drive itself. Apple also replaced one of my memory sticks.
So glad I paid for Applecare.....
