Why is Apple still selling the Series 3 in the Store, despite it not getting WatchOS9? It's Strange that Apple still makes and sells a device that won't get any more updates.
maybe they want to sell the supplies they have on hand, before watchOS9 is released...that way you can buy the shiny new watch released. Why is Apple still selling the Series 3 in the Store, despite it not getting WatchOS9? the iPod Touch 7th gen got discontinued before it was unable to get ios 16, they have never done things like this before.Apple would stop selling it when WatchOS9 is released. I believe they did this to the iPod Touch before.
It's basically Apple insulting anyone who bought it. Apple should've dropped the S3 years ago.

Well it's still supported for now. I assume they'll drop it from the lineup the second the Series 8 is out.
Why pull it from the shelves when it's still making money?
Probably because Apple knew that this year will be rough. With the shortages, supply chain issues, China lockdowns, orders piling up, Apple will do the best it can to squeeze revenue from all corners. There's a reason the 2 years old M1 MacBook Air is still for sale at the same original launch price, and the iphoneWell - other than being rather unethical to keep selling something your are about drop from updates... not much I guess?
I mean, if it makes you feel better, I bet production was cut if it wasn't already. All they've got now is all that's left.Well - other than being rather unethical to keep selling something your are about drop from updates... not much I guess?
Production won't be cut off just like that. It will still continue probably for another 5 years or so for replacement parts and AppleCare coverage.I mean, if it makes you feel better, I bet production was cut if it wasn't already. All they've got now is all that's left.
Don't they usually just harvest parts out of unsold units? I was always under the impression that's where the replacement units and such come from.Production won't be cut off just like that. It will still continue probably for another 5 years or so for replacement parts and AppleCare coverage.
They won't though. The same as they didn't tell customers, you don't need a new phone, just a new battery. As long as Apple make it expressly clear to potential customers that the series 3 will not be getting the recent to be released latest OS version then I see no problem in them selling the series 3 watch to get rid of what last remaining stocks they have.
