Hi folks, does the Apple keyboard with the numeric pad and the two USB 2.0 ports supply enough power to devices? I know it can handle small things like USB flash drives or a mouse plug, but can it handle things like cell phones (iPhone or others), iPods (meaning iTunes recognizes and can play music from your iPod) and even wireless mouse (with the USB receiver)?
I ask because 4 ports on the back of the current iMac isn't enough to fit my needs, at least not conveniently. I know the numeric pad keyboard will take up on slot already on the back since it's not a wireless keyboard.
Anybody know? My iMac at work's (2008 version) keyboard doesn't supply enough to power my cell phone (Nexus 2) and enough to connect my iPod. Both devices show a warning that the USB is under powered.
Appreciate any input.
Edit: I suppose Apple may change things up -- add more USB ports, or introduce a wireless keyboard with numpad -- in their Summer refresh. That would be ideal. I wonder how many USB 2.0 ports they'll potentially take away to put in Thunderbolt. Hopefully none...?
