Hi

Im testing out apple keychain as Im thinking about moving from 1p, while im testing it, Im using 1p still so to easily move passwords across as I login into websites.

My issue is that apple keychain seems to be very random when it decides to prompt me to save a password for a site I login into.

I have autofill passwords enabled in safari preferences and iCloud Keychain enabled.

Is this just a bug?

Perhaps updating to Ventura will fix the issue but currently Im happy on Monterey.

Does this happen to anyone else that uses apple keychain?

Thanks

I moved from 1Password to iCloud Keychain manually for about 225 logins. I also had about 200 secure notes in 1Password. This was done with Monterey.

I think that the "randomness" has something to do with the programming quality of the sites to which you login. Not all sites have defined their login/password fields properly. I did not notice many problems, and things works fine now.

I like that iCloud Keychain also presents my credentials to me on iPhone and iPad. - All the secure notes from 1Password ended up as "Locked Notes" in Apple Notes. These notes are just as secure as in 1Password. And they also synchronizes to iPhone/iPad.

I noticed when you edit a password in keychain you can add notes here as well, I guess this is a good place to store backup codes for any 2fa enabled accounts.
