So I’m
wondering about sizing in the Apple leather link. I just picked up a M/L size band. It fits well, I think. I have a 7 inch wrist and according to the sizing guides the M/L should be good. I’m not a small guy, 5’11” and 195lbs so the M/L seemed like it would be good as I wear the larger size in most other Apple bands.

When I put the band on I have 4 exposed “links” and maybe 14 magnet “links” holding it on. While it fits well, I’d be interested to know how others with this band feel about that fit? It makes me wonder if the S/M Might be better? How much smaller is it?

Thanks for any input or comments.

I am also wondering which size (S/M vs M/L) would be the best.
Has someone perhaps measured the length of the two straps (45mm version)?

I wound up returning the M/L band for the S/M. It fits much better, at least IMO. Even with my larger wrist, I get 8 or so magnets\links connecting. It's very secure, and looks a lot better as well.

Sorry for the last follow up, I actually forgot I posted this when no one responded in the first few days.

I wish I had seen your post. I, too, bought the M/L, but it wrapped all the way around, so I just ordered the S/M size. My wrist size is 175mm. The guidance on the apple site for the 45mm case says S/M is for wrists 140 - 180mm and the M/L is for 165 - 205mm. I fit into both so I opted for the larger, but that was a mistake. Hoping the S/M fits better—it arrives tomorrow.

For anyone curious, the S/M arrived today. It fits much better. For your reference, here are the two different sizes side by side. The S/M band has 2 less "magnets" on the short side, and 4 less on the long side.

With my wrist size of 175mm, on the M/L band, the long piece wraps almost to the other side of the watch with 2 magnets to spare, which I don't think looks good. With the S/M band, it wraps to 6 magnets and looks much better. Of course, the natural concern is how many magnets are securing it with the shorter band. In my case, there are a total of 9 magnets overlapping, which seems sturdy enough to keep the S/M. Hope that helps others trying to decide.

Wish I had found a pic like this when I made my original post. Definitely helpful! I think the sizing is definitely the oddest thing with this band. I wear a larger size in every other type but the smaller one in this is definitely a better fit for me as well. Good to know though as I have a black one, and am going to ask for the brown or green from my wife for Christmas. :)

5'10, 145lbs and tried both on at the store today. S/M is a much better fit. The larger size looked a bit ridiculous with the amount of overlap. Sadly, it seems the smaller size fits most people better as they were sold out at all nearby stores.

For those with the smaller case, the S/M for the 45mm is NOT the same as the S/M for the 41 mm, which is considerably smaller. When I went to the store I tried the bands in their little wooden tray and all were 45mm S/M. To my 165 mm wrist, they fitted just fine. But then I remembered the sizes were NOT the same for the 40 mm (which is the one I own) so I asked if they had a S/M for the 40 to try on, and it had indeed much less overlapping area. Maybe only 5 or 6 magnets. Eventhough the sales girl assured me “it’s very secure, it won’t come off” I just didn’t feel it that way. I ended up purchasing the M/L and I’m super happy with it. It overlaps 10 to 11 magnets and still have four and a half free magnets at the top so it doesn’t look weird. Feels very secure and very comfy!
