Has anyone successfully gotten the 27" Apple LED Cinema Display (MiniDP) to work with the 2019 Mac Pro 580X?

I have a little USB-C-to-MiniDP dongle which works just fine on my 2017 15" MBP. When I unplug the adapter from the MBP and plug it into the MP, the monitor never "wakes up". I'm not sure if I need a different adapter, a dock, etc.

Have you tried the apple thunderbolt 3 to 3 adapter? This is supposed to be bidirectional and I got it to work in the reverse direction with a 2013 Mac Pro and a LG5k display. I suspect that should work on your 7,1 MP as well.

Got it working through a Thunderbolt dock (CALDIGIT TS3 PLUS-ZML, part # HMX12ZM/A). Looks like my cheap little adapter was the issue!

A simple mini display port to USB-C adapter would do the trick, using one of the thunderbolt 3 ports in top PCI slot. Check Amazon. For other GPUs can be plugged direct or using other thunderbolt ports.

@Aboo, thunderbolt adapter only works with older thunderbolt devices like the Apple Thunderbolt Display. That adapter does NOT work with mini display port like the ACD.

Not true. As mentioned in my original post, I have a USB-C to MiniDP adapter, and it did not work on the Mac Pro. (For reference, it's this ITD ITANDA adapter) I had to buy a Thunderbolt dock to get it to work. Note that the same adapter DID work with a Samsung monitor on the Mac Pro and with the Apple monitor on a Macbook Pro.

I apologize, didn’t realize this wouldn’t work with the 580x. Glad I went with the Pro Vega II, I don’t have any issues.

I wish I had done the same - or at least the W5700X. I just encountered a new issue. Even with the Thunderbolt dock, the Apple LED Cinema Display doesn't work in Recovery mode - You have to unplug and replug the dock.
