I completely forgot you could connect the iPad via usb-c to a monitor, i got a new monitor a week ago that has a usb-c slot for video and I wanted to charge my iPad Pro since I was working on something and just forgot about the second monitor feature, to my surprise the monitor turned on and all of a sudden stage manager was enhanced even more.

I Used the feature for two days, updated to ios 16.3.1 and when I was about to continue using the feature a little while ago, it stopped working. Plugging in the USB-c to the ipad/monitor does nothing but charge the ipad now. I can’t get no video out of the ipad, now I have to work with tech support to see if a setting got turned because I can’t find anything so far about why this is not working now.

I tried 3 cables with no luck has anyone had this problem before?

Closest thing I found was a reddit post about ios16 beta testing, but that was Apple disabling the feature from the get go, i don’t know why this feature flat out stopped working on me. Please help.

I use my iPad Pro connected to an external monitor somewhat frequently. Works great. Not sure what happened in your case. Try rebooting your iPad 🤷‍♂️

It has to be connected to a keyboard and mouse to work.
Good luck on solving the problem. I use apples USB-C to HDMI and that’s worked for me

It’s the weirdest thing but after talking to an apple engineer this morning and troubleshooting a lot of steps, what fixed the issue for me was turning off the iPad and the monitor for a good 10 minutes to power reset both devices and it just started working again. We must had done the hard reset on the iPad Pro like numerous times and all also software reset all settings on the iPad but finally he had me turn off both devices for a good 10 minutes and sure enough it started to work right after. I have a 2022 IPad Pro 12.9”, So far it works with just the usb-c 3.1 cable directly to the monitor with no dongle! They had no explanation what could had happened but they did annotated this issue so they look into this.

Thanks for posting this, same thing happened to me with iPad Air 5th gen. I unplugged the monitor, plugged back in and it worked fine.
