This week, I've been counting my "saved up" pennies. We're now down to our final strokes - before buying.

Plan to purchase the iMac 21.5" with larger HD and better graphics card. Will need iWork as well. My son plays 4 different guitars, he writes music and my daughter does lots of video and voice recordings as well. We'll probably do some DVD burning for downloaded movies and well. If wondering, our desk space doesn't allow the large size 27" system. Thus, 21.5" (refurb unit - to save more dollars) is ok for us. And, our saved up pennies is very limited. re: Every "saved dime" counts.

--------------------

For our above wants / needs, should we purchase "bundle" Apple MAC BOX SET" for $199 CDN, or purchase iWork and other apps - if/when they are needed? Perhaps the other apps in Apple Mac Box Set isn't really needed for us?

thanks.

iWork is productivity-word processing, presentations, spreadsheets-and you haven't mentioned a need for the, but I'm going to make the assumption that they'll probably be needed at some point.

iLife will come with your computer already (unless they don't put it on refurb units) and that has all your creative suite stuff.

thanks. Confirmed that iLife '09 (which includes lots of little cool apps) is included in refurb iMacs as well. As see in in lower right page at: http://store.apple.com/ca/product/FC413LL/A?mco=MTU0MzQ1NzA I accidentally missed reading that page area.

Sounds like I only need to buy iWork '09 for it. I wonder if they will pre-load for $69 or I must purchase for $99.? Wonder if buying iWork '09 in its own box is better? What do others recommend the means I can obtain iWork '09 as well?

If you'll need it, sure, but there are free alternatives. Open Office is one.
