Is the 16 Core M3 MBP Max really a match for the 24 Core Mac Studio M2 Ultra, as the Geekbench benchmarks suggest?

This would be for a music production machine used mostly for mixing and mastering!

The looming M3 Studio Ultra, makes me think I should wait though!

I have no idea, but I'd be tempted to wait for the M3 Ultra too. We just don't know how long the wait will be. My guess is that production capacity is dedicated to meeting initial A17 and M3 demand and that the M3 Ultra will have to wait until additional capacity is brought on line.

The thing is, if the 16c M3 MBP Max is a match for the M2 Studio Ultra then I'd get the MBP now. Portable M2 Studio Ultra!

If not, and it suffers thermally etc I would wait.

If I could afford it Or need it. I’d love a 128GB M3 Ultra with a 60 Core GPU. And maybe 28 Cores. But no WiFi 7 or Thunderbolt 5 are DealBreakers.
