Apple MacBook Pro A1226 not booting from battery when charged

I have a Apple Macbook A1226 the battery was bad so I got two But when the batteries are fully charged the Apple MacBook Pro A1226 will not boot but only flashes it power light one checking the battery it still shows it is charged

I tried the resetting the SMC (System Management Controller) with the Shift + Control + Option keys on the keyboard while simultaneously pressing the power button for about 10 seconds, it will power on but when I shut the laptop down when i try and push the power button it does the same thing only flashes 1 times

with cord no problems

what can cause this?

Suggest to test yet another battery. Recommend to source from Amazon which can be returned if the battery is not required. The battery may be charging but cannot supply the current.

That's a 2007 MacBook Pro, do I have that right?

If so, at 17 years old (soon to be 18), it might be time to start looking for a replacement that is at least somewhat newer...
