So, I stopped using the Apple Mail app about 2-3 years ago after using it exclusively since it's inception... I stopped using it because it would download all emails and attachments from my multiple email addresses... It just took up too much space...

I tried Sparrow, and Outlook and numerous others... All my emails, professional and personal are gmail...

Has email evolved or is it going to give us the option to not download from server all emails in Catalina?

I don't want to continue to having tabs open in Safari for each email...

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Apple Mail has always allowed you to specify whether your attachments would be automatically downloaded or not. (BTW almost all email today is IMAP, and all mail clients WILL automatically download the message headers and body text. This only applies to ATTACHMENTS, but that's where most of the size is consumed anyway)

If you go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information, you'll see an option to Download Attachments, with choices being All, Recent, or None.

Hope this helps.
