Apple mail conversation view

Why does't replies in conversation view always are in ascending order?

sometimes replies are intermingled with times that do not add up

i.e. 14:32, 14:33, 14:30 (reply), 14:35

which prompts me not to look at top for latest, i need to manually drill down anway
 
Did you try Preferences > Viewing > Show most recent message at top?
