Apple Mail empty trash

When I trash or junk delete a mail-message, it keeps showing in my list of arrived mails - until I close and reopened the mail application.
I appreciate that some people may need the trash folder as a hold folder but I don't!

When I delete a message I don't want it to show up ANYWHERE in Mail .

Any suggestion??
