Hi All,

I have a 2015 15" A1398 MBP with 16GB Ram running Mojave.

Apple Mail has always been a problem App for me - very slow to load up & suffers regular crashes - very annoying but I lived with it.

I recently wanted to send some large files via email but due to email size limits, I got a message stating that they would be sent via Mail Drop onto iCloud & will be available for 30 days to view. I did not have enough iCloud storage so I upgraded from Apple.

Whenever I try to send large attachments in emails now, after pressing the send icon, I get the message above & I press continue. At that point my computer just goes haywire - fans rev up to Max, temps skyrocket & the mail CPU usage gets to 200% - everything freezes, cursor does not work & spinning beach balls galore that last ages. The RAM is maxed out every few seconds like to 0.1% before the system tries to free up but it instantly gets eaten up again & this cycles just continues.

The Mail Drop process takes ages - about 20-30 minutes & then I get a message stating that my file is too big for email server & to try another server - even though I selected Mail Drop via iCloud.

Would really appreciate any help/advice on how to resolve as this issue is making my unit totally unusable & I have many files over & above the regular 25mb email limits.

Many Thanks!

if you're needing to send attachments that exceed the size limits of email servers, then you should consider using a service that's set up for transferring very large files.....unfortunately it's something email providers clearly aren't interested in offering, which is why they have those size limits.

Myself, I've been using Dropbox to transfer extremely large files.....and of course there are other companies that are set up to do what you need

For uploading/sharing larger files, you might try:

Just a link I have, don't know how well it works.
