Hi All, After updating from an earlier Big Sur release (11.5.3) to 11.6, Apple Mail no longer receives incoming messages. I receive no error message, I just receive no e-mail when other applications show it's waiting in my inbox. I do have a VPN, but the problem occurs even when the VPN is turned off.

I have downloaded a copy of Mozillas's Thunderbird and it seems to be working fine.

Does "Mail / Accounts" show that your iCloud account is connected to the server?
It doesn't show any problem with the iCloud connection. It does show my username being my gmail address, but that's my Apple ID.

Ah, I thought you were receiving Apple Mail. If your email account is with Google, then you need to setup a Google email.
There are many examples online to show you how to do this (mine is IMAP). Here is the first I found:
How to set up google mail in Apple Mail Big Sur
I must not have been clear. My problem is with Apple's Mail app on the desktop, not connectivity. I have had set it up to connect to my gmail account for years and it worked without problem. Then I upgraded my OS X to 11.6 and, while I can send mail using the app, it has stopped being able to receive messages. I changed none of my server settings and as far as I can see, they're still correct.

I would rather not delete and recreate my gmail account within the app, but that seems to be my last shot, unless anyone is aware of anything else I might want to do.

I updated to 11.6 without issue, and I have four email accounts, and all can send/receive separately. On the outside chance that you may be sending on another account, is the Goggle account status online with the "Enable this account" box checked? If so, then you may be correct that your only option is to remove/add the Google account in the Mail app. I have no special configs on my Google email account in Mail-- all defaults and the outgoing server is selected as "Google".
Perhaps someone else may have a clue as to what could possibly be wrong?

It was. I did delete the account and attempted to recreate it, only to get an "Unable to verify account name or password" error back. Interesting, as I am logged into that very account using the same password through the Thunderbird app and gmail's web app. Multiple attempts got the same response. I think that I'll just set the Mail app aside for awhile and see if the software fairies come and straighten things out.
