For the past month or so since starting back to college, I have been using both Entourage and Mail. Last year, all I used was Mail. I haven't quite figured out which one I like most.

I know Mail is simple, but there is something about Entourage that I like and I just can't place my finger on it. I like Mail's smart boxes, but I guess I just like Entourage's integration with its calendar program, notes, etc.

What is your favorite?

This should be a nice discussion.

I like the integration as you said. I'm syncing with my Clie' with ease. Folders are good...I don't know, I just like it.

Which one is this.. :)

I use Mail, and love it, personally.. :D Great interface, simple..

However, I do have Entourage sitting on my MS Office CD, so.. if there are enough reasons, I may give it a try.

Mail. Use it, love it. Tied in with other OS X Apps well (Address Book, Spotlight, etc.).

Entourage, tried it. Don't care for it personally. Perhaps because it's made by Microsoft... perhaps because I prefer Mail's simplicity. :)

I used Entourage for a while when I switched to using Macs. However, I kept having a problem with the database becoming corrupt. I believe it happened because I used IMAP and would check my mail from other places. That seemed to confuse Entourage. I've never had a problem checking mail from other places while using Mail.

*note: I meant to say that I check mail from other places _while_ Entourage or Mail are still running.

Personally, I pefer Entourage. Mail is fine and have no problems with it but Entourage seems to filter junk mail better that Mail, at least with the junk mail that I receive.

Having used both Entourage and Mail, it is Mail hands down and pulling away. Entourage exhibits the typical Microsoft-think way of doing things. The user sits and watches it work and is powerless to correct its mistakes. If you use Entourage, it will be an interesting experiment to run Mail in parallel with it. You might find that Entourage filters out valid messages that Mail [and everything else] allows through. The user has almost complete control over Mail's filters and no control that I can see over Entourage's filters. I am in the unfortunate situation of having my firm recently "upgrading" its Exchange server. So far I have not figured out how to run Mail using the "upgraded" server. Thank God, the new Web client displays the messages Entourage in its infinite wisdom chooses not to display.

I prefer Entourage. I'm used to the interface, as I've used either it or Outlook for years. Also, I think it has better Junk filtering than Mail.

But, here's the kicker for me: volume. My client needs to check 13 accounts, at least every 5 minutes. Before you say "but wait- do you really need all those?", yes I do. And even if I don't, I'm describing my experiences. I want software that works for me. Also, I have around 50,000 emails in various folders that I need access to at all times, and I need it quick. I tried importing just one folder into Mail (not the biggest, I think it was around 8,000) messages, and Mail just choked- not encouraging.

I'd say try the two. For me, Entourage is the clear winner.

I have never used Entourage, but as a recent switch have much experience with Outlook. Personally, I hated having to leave Outlook open to get either calendar, contacts, or mail. I really like how Apple split it up and it still functions seamlessly together. I actually think that its Junk mail works alot better. Also, Entrourage just feels cheap.
