I have moved to a new development (new meaning its started 3 years ago and is almost completely filled with home owners). I have been reporting to Apple the complete site map for months now and absolutely nothing heard back.

Google maps however has completed updating their maps and now people can navigate with now problem IF they use Google Maps. On the My Card with my new address, it fails saying cannot find. Why is Apple so bad at getting new information updated?

As a long, long time Apple ecosystem user I am seriously thinking of moving back to the dark side... at least things work there.

Sounds somewhat similar to https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-even-after-i-sent-3-emails-to-apple.2097970/

In my experience providing photos to Apple has resulted in Apple Maps being updated within a few weeks. I always get a notification from Apple Maps on my devices. I've never added a new place however. Just reported issue with existing addresses or POIs.

To add a new place, in Apple Maps in the Upper Right click on the "i" which will bring up Map Settings. There is an option to Add a Place. Follow the prompts and there is an option to Add a Photo. I would add the Google Maps screen shot.

Count yourself lucky. Despite iPhones being sold where I live in the Middle East (Jordan), you can not use it for navigation purposes at all. It clearly displays all the road layouts, street names etc. But you can't select anywhere as a destination (saved favourite, manual input etc) and get driving directions.

It will only allow you to hail an Uber or equivalent if you have the app installed. If not you can just look at the map.

I have reported this for nearly a year now and still heard nothing back. Maybe they are trying to get people to use a 'digital road atlas'..... Or they're just being idle!

Is that just for Apple Maps or Google Maps and all other map and navigation apps?

I’m guessing it depends on the City, State and Country you live in, thus some get priority over others.
So if you live in Washington DC area like I do, apple maps works and if you live in the boondocks you won’t get your issue resolved for a very long time.

Google Maps and Waze is one of the Googles major products. Apple Maps is not Apples major product, so priority is low.

Having that said.
I still use Google Maps more often. Because it has better and updated local info on businesses, shops etc. But in Apple Maps, quarter of same info is outdated or does not exist.

Yes I too use Google Maps. But for me the My Card address it never shows up. So if you need to navigate to Home, Apple maps fails. So I got CarPlay now but since I moved I can't navigate home.

Remember Apple uses TomTom for its map data. Ask TomTom why they don’t update their maps. Probably want people to use theirs instead of Apples. Google Maps isn’t perfect either. Especially outside of cities where their vehicles have never been near.

I have a similar problem to the OP, but opposite.

I moved into a new construction home, and the neighborhood is still being built out. I'd guess my neighborhood will be fully constructed by later this year.

Apple Maps has no problem with my address, but as far as Google is concerned I do not exist. You'd be surprised how troublesome that is. Furniture delivery? Better hope one of the delivery drivers has an iPhone. Food delivery? Give it up. The online delivery systems are all dependent on Google, so when you try to add my address it won't even allow it. It's been pick up only for me since we moved in in October. I've submitted numerous map corrections to Google over the last months to no avail.

Google Maps suck, as well.

Same with TomTom, some places get more priority over another.

Yup, same here. Although the neighborhood is older, they just added a couple houses at the end of a little road. Google maps can’t find my address, Apple maps has had it for a while now. It’s really weird since google maps has an actual picture of the houses.

Same here. Moved in during "Phase 1", so have been here pretty much the whole time.

Both Google and Apple maps have sucked at various times...

First 2.5 years, Apple maps didn't show the neighborhood (165 homes) at all. Worse yet, if you typed in an address, it would act like it was guiding you here, but it'd take you to the geolocation that represented the middle of the zip code, which was about ten miles away. WTH?!?

For the last 1.5 years, Google Maps shows the neighborhood, but routes people here incorrectly. Instead of bringing them in the entrance to the neighborhood, it brings them up a cul-de-sac in a neighboring 'hood. Awesomely, at that point, it's 50/50 as to whether the driver will simply get pissed off and then drive across private property to get into the neighorhood, or take the extra 45 seconds to loop back and come in the main entrance.

This DHL guy below decided to get pissed off and just drive across. Thank you Google Maps!

Now, Google Maps has everyone's address about 5 houses off. So when we see the pizza guy fly past our house, come to a stop, pause/pause/pause/pause, then U-turn and come back, it's easy to tell he was using Google Maps instead of Apple Maps.

So my experience is that neither are perfect. But I agree about Apple Maps being slow to respond to some submitted problems. Shouldn't take 2.5 years to get a new neighborhood on the map, regardless of whose base data they're using...

Ha! My former place of employment moved to a new building start of 2015.

Took Google over a year to update their information despite repeated attempts at contact and hoops to jump for verification.

Apple maps got it pretty quickly, a few months but I was tasked with working with Google to fix it since most people use Google to find new addresses.

Google does this as well. Quite often in fact, at least often enough for me to notice....

Apple Maps

Notice how a very large portion of that neighborhood is missing from Google? Those roads are 4-6 years old...

If I search for them by name on Google I get "No results".

Switching platforms specifically for this reason is silly IMO. You know where you live right? Other people will use Google if Apple fails them (or vice versa), in any event its unlikely someone trying to get to your house will throw their hands in the air and say "F it!". And more obviously, you getting a different phone doesn't affect others.

I would just use the Google maps link.
