when I search in Safari it suggests maps.apple.com and give me information about my searched location.

Edit: see attached image.

I don't remember it doing this before?!

Is this new?

Reads like it's about time. Two bits kill a verification for me - which search engine (Bing and Google have their own maps!) and that ellipsis in your link is a truncation of your URL (an error page is returned as a result) but I took a downsized screen shot of the result showing Apple Maps in the upper left corner. Consider using the "Link" option in a subsequent post. Cheers!

Been around for a while. Noticed it once when sending a location from my iPhone to someone in a email. Cant use it in the web unfortunately like Google Maps unfortunately.
