As a graphic designer I was wondering what peoples thoughts or experiences are on the mouse and keyboard's from apple. Is it better to go wireless? I have heard the mighty mouse wireless can be awful for designers?

The reason I am considering the wireless is because I plug my MacBook Pro into a 32" LCD monitor and I'd like to have the ability to use the mouse and keyboard from across the room ( not for design but other light use).

I am put off by the poor reviews and the very steep price for both wireless items, plus the fact that the wireless keyboard has no numberic pad either.

I can't recommend the Mighty Mouse for intense work use. You'd be better off getting a cordless one elsewhere (I have the Logitech MX Revolution and love it).

The wireless keyboard should be okay, but you don't really need wireless unless you'll be holding your keyboard on your lap or something while you type.

Having a cordless mouse is almost a necessity once you get used to it; having a cordless keyboard is just a luxury.

I'd say go wireless on both. There's nothing worse than moving about on the desk only to be tied down by some short cable attached to the keyboard/mouse!

I wouldn't use a mighty mouse for anything (especially not design), too much of a pain in the arse!

I'm a designer and use the apple wireless keyboard and logitech mx revolution and love both. I used the wireless mighty mouse for a week and hated it.

There's no big difference, it's just that you'll have to get used to the wireless and don't forget that you'll have to buy rechargeable batteries and a charger (unless you want to buy new batteries every time the old ones die). I tend to use the wired ones.

The mighty mouse is simply horrible, its not good for anyone, it being wired doesnt matter. Avoid that mouse as if its covered with the flesh eating virus.

Wireless is better, too many times I have been trying to do something and end up running out of slack for the mouse wire.

The MX Revolution is the best mouse you can buy, its expensive new but you can pick up a refurb at amazon for pretty cheap. I have a refurb and its just as good as a new one, I only paid $30. It recharges in a cradle so you never have to worry about batteries (a charge lasts about 5 days).

It doesnt matter if the keyboard is wireless or not and it doesnt matter what keyboard you get, its just a keyboard.

Apple don't make good mice.. definitely don't go that way. All Apple mice are designed for the eye - not for the hand.

I prefer wired mouse because there's no chance of batteries running out. I couldn't find a nice wired mouse so i have a wireless and I really don't like it that much.

As for brands, i'd check out Logitech or Microsoft range, see which feels the best. personally I always use logitech

The mighty mouse is completely unergonomic and for long periods it hurts my hand - unfortunately apple never made a good one :(
