Last night I set up my new 5k iMac for the first time. Upon start up it gave me on-screen icons indicating I needed to switch on my Apple Mouse and BT keyboard.

I (mistakenly?) thought I could set up my new iMac with my Magic Trackpad. It was still on and had previously been connected to my Mac Mini. I thought maybe it would connect upon initial start up and I could just use that.

Nope. No connection. Instead I had to use my Mouse, which was a mess in that I have a glass desk and it was a huge PITA to track the mouse across the desktop.

Eventually I powered through hilariously and was able to connect my Magic Trackpad after some initial screens.

Here is my question though......I wanted to sell my Magic Mouse. However if I ever need to restore my iMac for some reason in the future, will I need a Magic Mouse.....or a wired mouse to do so?

I also want to sell the BT keyboard that comes with the iMac. I have an Apple wired keyboard with numeric trackpad that I prefer. Upon restoring the iMac can I connect the wired keyboard at setup and use it? And if so I assume I'll need a cheap wired mouse too just to go through set up?
