Hello,
So I wake today only to find that all my playlists have vanished from my iPhone 7 (latest IOS [v12.1.2]). I tried out Apple Music months ago and cancelled it about two months ago. Didn't think this had anything to do with my local playlists vanishing off of my iPhone (playlists still viewable within iPhone portion of iTunes [v12.9.2.6]).
TROUBLESHOOTING ATTEMPTS:
I first rebooted my iPhone 7 to no avail. I attempted several times to sync with iTunes to no avail. After reading several peoples "enable iCloud Music Library" solutions and noticing that I didn't have it listed there (within Settings --> Music), I surfed the web to find why I didn't have the aforementioned option. It looked quite evident to me that I needed to enable my Apple Music subscription. I don't want Apple Music. As stated earlier, I cancelled my free 30-day trial months ago. I enabled a new 30-day trial version via my iPhone 7 to see if my local (iPhone) playlists came back. After noticing the spinning wheel icon at the upper right-hand corner of iTunes and seeing the message (attached) I looked back within iTunes on my iPhone 7 and lo and behold my playlists were back!
So what I am surmising is that in order for playlists to work on my iPhone 7 I need to be subscribed to Apple Music? WTF? Why were my playlists working fine after over 2 months of being unsubscribed to Apple Music?
Please enlighten me on this bizarre behavior. Much appreciate feedback
