Apple Music album sorting

Albums used to be sorted oldest to newest under each artist, now it’s newest to oldest, which I don’t like. I don’t see anyway to change it back, is there one?

That’s how I had mine. However in the last Beta I noticed the change so checked the sort by button. There is no longer an option to sort by oldest first. I’m hoping it is just an oversight and the option is reinstalled in the next Beta. Hopefully today.

Just checked my wife’s phone that is still on ios17.6. Tapping the three dots top right brings up the sort by button. Tapping the sort by opens up a menu where you can sort by Year. Tapping Year can change the sorting order to either Ascending or Descending.
However on the latest Beta on my phone the sort by button no longer has the year option it’s now Release Date. Choosing this just sorts as newest first. Hopefully they change it back to how it was.

I’ve filed feedback suggesting that the feature be added back.
Not holding my breath though.

I take sorting with a grain of salt, remasters of old albums usually gets treated as a new album which annoys me as well.

I just change the metadata on iTunes for those to match the original release year

this really sucks. I love hitting play on an artist and listening to every album in order. why do this kind of thing. what's wrong with options!?

Good news mates. Sorting has been fixed in 18.2 beta. Let’s hope it stays that way
You can now choose between oldest first or newest first. 👍🏻
