Hi all,

I have been testing the new Apple Music app for Windows as a potential replacement for iTunes. What I am seeing is that there is a lot of old iTunes functionality which simply doesn't seem to exist in Apple Music for Windows:

* iTunes for Windows lets you import non-Apple music formats and it will convert them. For example, I bring WMA files over from Windows Media Player and import them; iTunes converts them into MP4 files. Apple Music doesn't seem to support this.
* iTunes for Windows lets you rip CDs. I see no option for this in Apple Music for Windows.
* iTunes for Windows has Home Sharing, so you can access your iTunes library from an Apple TV and play music, videos, etc. I see no similar option in Apple Music for Windows (presumably not in Apple TV for Windows, either).

I'm sure there are other things missing, but these are the features I use daily in iTunes for Windows.

Am I missing something, or are these features really not present in Apple Music for Windows?

I can't even pause with the space bar. The EQ bands are stuck and can't be moved from the neutral default positions and the pre-defined presets cannot be adjusted/edited either.

iTunes on Windows was acceptable, not as good as on the Mac but still my preferred player in Windows.

Apple Music on Windows on the other hand is hot garbage.

Apple Music is just a very simple UI to access their streaming service and it can import local files for playback. It has nothing to do with iTunes and I bet the two don't even share code. Someone was tasked with making a simple app in the style of iTunes.

These are valid bugs which need to be addressed by Apple with time on both the Mac and Windows. I will, however, say that not sharing code with iTunes is more of a feature than a bug. iTunes was hot garbage as well, and its codebase dates back to a Classic Mac OS app called SoundJam MP from the late 90s that Apple bought and turned into iTunes. It was due for a teardown and re-write after 25 years of bloat. That doesn't excuse the issues with its replacement, mind you.
