Hi everyone! I've been having lots of little issues with Apple Music and, while they've certainly tried, Apple support has been unable to resolve my issues.

I am having an issue where once certain songs are marked as "Loved", they are unable to be un-marked. To give an example I'll use a song I'm having this issue with: "When I Was Your Man" by Bruno Mars.

When I select the heart icon to mark the song as "Loved", the icon darkens as it should and the song is added to my smart playlist. Sometime later, even weeks later, when I go to remove the "Loved" rating from the song, nothing happens. The icon darkens for a brief second, as it should, but the icon remains filled in.

This happens on every iTunes installation I've tried, Mac, PC., anything. Reinstalling iTunes does nothing to help with the issue. It wasn't fixed in the update yesterday, either.

I sent a bug report yesterday, but Apple hasn't gotten back to me yet.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any ideas what to do here?

Exactly. I'm having literally the exact same problem. Have you submitted a bug report?

I spoke to Apple about this

The reason why it can't be un-loved in playlist is because it a those songs are still love in "For you" section... aka when displaying the album u can love sons from there to (its also where u tick the album you add to playlist)

so these loves/unloved in playlist ties in with Apple music, weather their loved on the page... Is these songs were loved when adding album then that is why u can't remove from playlist..

You first need to unlove these in "For you" then u can do the ones from playlist...

Love is eternal my friend.

Sounds like a glitch with your Apple Music account though. I'm sure there's someone at Apple hq that can fix this? Or it might just be a persistent annoyance like the bizarre way iCloud songs would just skip to the next one instead of streaming like try were supposed to.

What? No offense, but this is confusing to me.

Has Apple done anything with your bug report?

I think I've figured out where this is happening. When you "Love" a song, then delete that song from iCloud Music Library, the "Love" stays attached to that song, so it is still marked as "Loved" if you download it again. That still doesn't explain why they can't be un-marked though.

Here's a solution that's worked for me

1) Identify the song you're unable to unlove
2) Search for that actual song on :apple: Music
3) Unlove it there
4) Go back to Your Music and unlove it there as well.

This worked great.Thanks!

Any ideas as to why this happens in the first place?

I don't have Apple Music, yet I'm experiencing this issue... what can I do?

The only solution that worked for me was to Right Click on the song and select "Create New AAC Version" which re-encodes the song (according to your encoding settings in iTunes > Preferences > "Import Settings" which should probably be set to the highest, i.e. 'iTunes Plus', unless you know what you're doing) and then delete the old track/file.

Warning: You will lose your play count doing this, but the rest of the track metadata remains untouched as far as I can tell — excepted for "Loved", of course, which finally goes away.
