We're a family of 6 on Apple Music's family plan. There must be something wrong with our setup because when we are on our individual iPhone's, iPad's, or Apple TV's we are seeing each other's Playlists and can edit/delete them, and we'd like it to stop.

Family Sharing Purchases & Music: Each of us has our own separate email address in that field.

Shared Features: Purchase Sharing is Off.
Shared Features: iCloud Storage is Off.
Shared Features: Apple Music is On.

iTunes & App Store: We all use the same Apple ID for apps and music I've purchased over the years, it was the least expensive way to do that years ago.

I thought that each of us having our own Apple Music email address to differentiate us from each other is what was required. Is the fact that we are using the same Apple ID for Apps the issue perhaps?

It goes by AppleID, so if you all use the same AppleID you'll have a bad time due to sharing content like iMessages and Music.

You can make them all use their own mail as their AppleID and then enable purchase sharing from your AppleID, sharing all purchased apps and music with them.

Thanks for responding. So let me make sure I'm understanding you:

You are saying that even though our Apple Music Family Sharing Purchases & Music each has 6 different email addresses that the problem is the iTunes & App Store which has all 6 of us using the same Apple ID?

I ask because it seems to me that if Apple Music Sharing Purchases & Music is set up with 6 different email addresses as it is now shouldn't that work?

Your whole family seems to have all of their devices logged into a single AppleID. Apple Music goes by logged in AppleID on your device (at least it does here). You should make all of them set up their own AppleIDs and then let family sharing take care of propagating purchases and subscriptions.

I'm surprised this is the only issue you're encountering (there's also stuff like iMessage or iCloud Photo Library using AppleIDs).

Thanks again.

So to un-do the 6 of us with the same Apple ID for the App Store & iTunes.... how do I do that without each of my family members losing their home screens, apps, in-app purchases, game progress, etc? Is this like a giant start-from-scratch (they'll kill me) or is there a way for them to maintain all of this while getting new individual Apple ID's?

This will be from scratch. Prepare to be killed

So I did this yesterday, switched 5 family members from my Apple ID to their individual Apple ID's (what I used to set up the Family Share) and the only pain is that they lost their Music setups, they lost their Playlists. Apps, in-app purchases, purchased TV/movies/music, it's all fine.

As for the Playlists, wasn't so painful, they did a 'Share' of their most important Playlists with me before I cut them over, I saved them on my account as New Playlists, and then sent them back over to them using AirPlay. Annoying, but not a death sentence.
