weirdly Apple Music decided to delete my 10k song library from my phone today. i did nothing unusual since last using it, except charge it overnight (via a power socket, not a computer's USB or anything. wifi sync is turned off also.)

fortunately i came home to find the library on my computer was ok, except it has about a whole load of new 'ineligible / error / etc' entries. i've been getting more and more of these. i don't know what prompts them. today i definitely have more - wonder if it's related or a separate bug?

either way, i've had loads of songs i bought or was given from other musicians, and worse still, songs i wrote, being deleted and replaced with random songs, having my record label's artwork replaced etc, from a brief period when i still used iTunes as a player having enrolled for AM, prior to realising that it was doing this. many of these have gone forever 'with Error / Ineligble' tags etc. i no longer have any idea which songs are lost, including the many revisions of my own work

going back to the original issue - according to storage settings and the sync page in Mac itunes, the phone is listed as having no storage allocated for music, and 30gb free (where before it was about 3-4.)

i synced it with itunes to get the library back. even with this somewhat recovered state, all songs i had downloaded for offline use, as well as the songs i owned and synced prior to enrolling in AP, are no longer physically on it (presumably tagged as in the cloud only?)

to top it all, itunes for Mac, since AM, always does this annoying popup, causing the dock to show up and bounce incessantly in games or pro apps, every time it fails to connect with the server. this happens sometimes 10 times a day. sometimes i wake up the computer and must dismiss 8 or so itunes 'couldn't connect' popups before being able to play a song.

i'm sort of at my wits end with it

... just not looking forward to moving over to another service, as i've already taken time to add around 4000 songs from AM. but i especially want to be free of icloud in all its forms, it's not just AM, things like Notes constantly duplicating important documents so i'm not sure which is the most up to date version any more ~ i feel as if i can't rely on it at all.

just felt the need to get that off my chest! :)

Sorry to hear about your bad exprience. If you want to switch, there is software that can move songs and playlists between different subscription services, like e.g. STAMP.

thanks - that was something i was just looking into, looks perfect for my needs.

i should add that these issues are probably due to my unusual use case of having huge numbers of wip songs, all stored in different places on my HD, which are often moved around, and no doubt in some cases user error because of the complexity of that. these songs, and my various DJ libraries, were all uploaded when i first logged onto AM, and also in the following month or two as it took me a while to figure out it was uploading my songs (and stopped using itunes as a player to preview stuff because that was causing songs to get uploaded) - i only signed up for the streaming aspect and didn't know you had no choice in the matter (i guess i should read license agreements, but...) but things like replacing my own artwork for official releases on my label (prepared for itunes no less) are less forgivable. as is today's magic vanishing phone library!
