Hello, hope someone can help as I’ve just taken up a further trial of AM after abandoning it after it was initially released and I don’t want to enable ICML on my main library as I have over 200gb of music and don’t want to risk any mismatching of tracks or other issues.

If I enable ICML on my iPhone only, I can download music I don’t own and keep on my phone for offline listening or streaming to my Hi-Fi, etc. I also have music on my iPhone which I own and have synced from my main library on my Mac and have some playlists set up.

Would I be able to continue to sync the music I own from my Mac to the iPhone using this option or does having ICML enabled on the iPhone prevent this? Is it all or nothing?

Would it cause any problems with my main library?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An easer solution: Buy an inexpensive USB drive and make a permanent backup (in addition to the complete Time Machine or Carbon Copy backup you should already be making) of you iTunes library. Then you can enable iCML on your Mac without any concerns and enjoy the benefits of syncing.

Thanks Julian, I’d rather not go this route as a high proportion of my music is lossless and I usually playback via a Dac on my iPhone or through decent quality Hi-Fi equipment, I don’t want to reduce the quality on my owned tracks or have to sort out mismatches etc.

It’s really the ICML on iPhone only I’m trying to understand.
