Apple Music iOS bug

has anyone else encountered the following issue or have any solutions?

I previously had iTunes Match and with that "upgraded" a large portion of my music collection to the DRM free matched versions available through this service.

I now have Apple Music and want to use iCloud music library. Everything works as it should on macOS but on my iOS devices certain songs do it playback. They just skip to the next working song.

I believe from testing this is limited to specific songs. All the ones that do not work are both "uploaded" and have been previously matched and downloaded when I was using iTunes Match. So basically songs that Apple has upgraded to 256kbs DRM free, are still tagged as matched in the file but when using Apple Music they are uploaded. These files work on sonos, macOS but not iOS.

One fix is to reencode the files to MP3 or AAC which removes the matched tag but this isn't ideal as it will lead to reduced quality.

Has this affected anyone else and has anyone got a workaround?

Same here. It's probably a bug.

I've solved that converting the AAC matched files to new AAC files on iTunes. Well, it's not perfect, but at least I can listen to the songs now via iCloud library.

Yeah I thought of that and it does work but converting an already compressed file is a big no no and somewhat frustrating considering iTunes Match was supposed to improve my files.

At least I'm not the only one, is there a way to report bugs in iOS? Has anyone else got this issue and have you seen threads elsewhere? I have apple support looking into it and clear evidence that a group of people have it would be useful to inspire some movement.

I just got AirPods and decided to try Apple Music as I had already started migrating away from iTunes to Spotify. Both have issues. The main one with Apple Music is this one. I have been compiling a playlist of the "won't download" files and so far it seems that about 25% of the files with iCloud type "Uploaded" won't download. Some are songs I purchased through iTunes! I believe in my last.fm OCD frenzy I changed metadata on those files. Some were purchased as "singles" before an album was announced and then when I used "complete my album" I changed them to be part of the album.

They are all of the "Kind" either "Purchased AAC" or "Matched AAC" So if they are Purchased or Matched, why did they need to be uploaded? I can just go in and add them to my library, but then the play history is gone. It would be if I went to to Spotify anyway, but I'm still thinking there has to be a way in iTunes.

You can change play counts yourself and there are even scripts that can add new songs back into the correct playlists but it really shouldn't be like this. I've decided to wait for a fix rather than come up with a workaround as I loathe the idea of spending my time fixing something they have caused.

I just went back in and my entire list of "won't download" songs just all downloaded to my phone. I guess it just took them a while to get properly sorted out in the big magical cloud. I'm very happy that now all my music works.
